Actress Blake Lively turned heads at the SXSW premiere of Another Simple Favor, solidifying her position as a fashion innovator with a vintage-inspired latex ensemble by the avant-garde designer Renée Masoomian. In a move overturnning traditional red carpet gowns which we are seeing more regularly, Lively showcased the incredible versatility of latex, proving that the material can evoke both retro glamour and modern sophistication.

The focal point of Lively’s head-turning ensemble was a strapless blush pink latex corset which was paired with an ankle-length skirt, each delicately bordered with black lace. The subtle colour choice added to the vintage feel, while the black lace provided a striking contrast, accentuating the dress’s intricate design. A narrow black “belt” cinched her waist, further defining her silhouette. Lively amplified the vintage aesthetic, styling her blonde locks in 1940s-esque victory curls, and complementing them with peachy glam, coral eyeshadow, and glossy lips. Accessories included demure pearl studs, a statement white gemstone ring, and multiple dazzling diamond rings, echoing the starburst silhouette of her earrings. Black peep-toe pumps, adorned with playful pom-poms and feathers, added a whimsical touch to the overall look.
Upon arriving at the premiere, Blake Lively initially sported a matching calf-length translucent latex “shirt dress” in a slightly more vibrant shade of pink. As her tour down the red carpet continued, the actress removed the top layer, revealing the blush pink corset and maxi skirt, showcasing the outfits ingenious two-layer design.
All three garments were from New York based latex designer Renée Masoomian, a brand which has seen recent interest thanks to her innovative and cutting-edge designs, and was also credited with the creation of Lady Gaga’s attention-grabbing latex nail cape for her “Abracadabra” music video. Masoomians outfits have always been met with high regard throughout the latex fashion community, and with good reason, thanks to unique elements such as the moulded rose latex lace which are part of the garments worn by Lively.
The Lovely Corset features a deep plunging neckline and hourglass shape, and is made with spiral steel bones for the perfect, tight fitting look. Blake paired this with the latex designers lace trimmed maxi skirt, which includes the designers signature moulded rose latex lace and a black latex belt. The lace trimmed shirt dress provided the perfect ‘jacket’ for the ensemble providing an elegant and modern twist on a classic look.
But it wasn’t just the appearance of Blake Lively at the premiere which caught our attention. It has also been confirmed by costumer designer Renee Kalfus that Another Simple Favor will feature character Emily Nelson wearing a wedding dress & accompanying latex accessories also from designer Renee Masoomian. Now we can’t wait to catch the film when it releases on Amazon Prime on May 1st.
The unforgettable look celebrated Lively’s new film and redefined expectations for red carpet attire. Her bold fashion statement demonstrated that latex can transcend its often provocative connotations to achieve both daring and elegant results. By embracing vintage silhouettes and styling, Lively created a look that was both timeless and undeniably modern.
