Taking place this year at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Münchenstein, Switzerland, and with the announcement that artist Erika Vikman will be representing Finland at this years, Eurovision 2025 is looking like the shiniest contest yet.

One of the brightest stars in the Finnish pop world, Erika Vikman, started her career in the entertainment industry at a very young age. In recent times she has become quite a fan of latex clothing.

Working closely with, and favouring the designs of iconic Finnish latex designer Tiina Rikala, Erika has continued to highlight her adoration of our favourite shiny material over on her Instagram profile, with an ever expanding repertoire of latex clothing which only started to take form a few short months ago.

Back in December 2024, Vikman posted her first latex clad appearance on her Instagram, during which she spoke about the epiphany of her new found fondness for rubber clothing. Having ordered the outfit for a performance back in 2022, a striking red and semi-transparent bodysuit from Tiina Rikala, the planned outfit ended up being shelved and kept in storage for two years. A childhood fear of the smell of latex balloons prevented the performer from slipping into the outfit but, at the end of 2024, Erika decided to take the plunge, “challenge her senses and overcome at least some of this fear of smell”, and hasn’t looked back since.

For her winning performance during the individual country stages of Eurovision, Erika was once again back in Rikala’s exquisite designs. Singing the now confirmed Finnish entry to the annual competition, “Ich Komme”, a combination of Finnish disco and electronic music, the singer wore an eye-catching black structured corset, with gold and studding detailing. Paired with a set of black chapped trousers Erika Vikman wowed the audience and judges alike:

Even the official video for “Ich Komme” featured Vikman showcased her love of latex fashion. This time wearing a multi-layered, laminated latex corset, as always by Tiina Rikala and made from Radical Rubber’s metallic honey colour, the corset was constructed and glued together from over thirty pieces. Combined with a matching metallic, open fronted skirt with a flowing train, Erkia took latex style to a whole new level.

For her most recent latex appearance, Vikman was in attendance at the Emma-Gaala, often referred to as the Finnish Grammys, repping the same metallic honey outfit (it’s always great to see celebrities highlighting the sustainable nature of latex clothing) showcased in her recent video.

Will we see latex fashion at Eurovision this year? With Erika Vikman in attendance there’s a high chance we can expect to savour some shiny outfits, but the only way to find out is to tune in on Saturday 17th May.
