Taking place on the lowest underground floor of the Palais de Tokyo, on a hot and humid Paris afternoon, Paco Rabanne’s spring show featured a varied mix of fine chainmail, which was combined with affluent fabrics of silk and metallic thread but it was the addition of latex which caught our eye. Lead collection designer Julien Dossena has opted to include elements of poured latex in many of the designs.

“It’s a caricature of the feminine and delicate image, but I wanted to express relevant emotions like anger and violence” Dossena said. The collection features dresses created in hand-painted rubber that evoked this anger, along with lace-encrusted latex slipdresses in a clashing palette of scarlet, purple, electric blue and mint green.
