ITV’s Love Island is back for another series of sun and shine, however on last nights episode the shine was most definitely not from the sky but from ‘that’ Versace latex dress.

Originally revealed during Milan Fashion Week 2021 at Versace’s Restort Spring/Summer 2022 launch, the Medusa dress has become a latex staple since having been worn by countless celebrities including Kate Beckinsale, Hailey Bieber, Shakira, Tamannaah Bhatia, Amelia Hamlin and Joey King.
As we previously reported, the latex dress was worn by former Islander Tasha Ghouri before being passed to the show in the hopes that it would someday be worn by a new owner and join the stylist Amy Bannerman’s wardrobe in assisting the Islanders in putting together second-hand looks.
After receiving disapproval for supporting unethical fast-fashion manufacturers for a long time, Love Island teamed up with eBay UK in 2022 to outfit Islanders with used clothing; a trend that has continued into this year. Partnering with stylist Amy Bannerman, eBay’s pre-loved fashion stylist, the show has aimed to change this perception.
On this occassion the latex garment was worn by Love Island contestant Tanyel Revan whilst attending the reality show’s ’90s vibe party at the villa. In the pastel-blue Versace number it looked as though the dress had almost being originally made for Tanyel, as she clearly oozed confidence as the party reached full height.
What do you think of the dress worn by Tanyel? Would you wear something similar? Do you agree with latex clothing being re-used and re-purposed? Let us know in the comments section below.
