After moving to London in late 2009 on a whim and a prayer, I found myself able to indulge much more often in my love of latex and fetish. With more clubs, events and shops than one could shake a reasonably large flogger at I was in heaven. Hailing from the marvellous city of Glasgow I was somewhat limited to how often I was able to get dressed up in my shiny tight rubber (mostly due to the inhospitable temperatures) and go out with likeminded people.
After spending a few months trying out new places and experiences I found the only limiting factor was really the clothes. Although London has many respected and talented designers I never felt like my perfect outfit existed and additionally my body shape is very hourglass and therefore everything had to have the added surcharge of Made to Measure on top. It was at this point that I decided I was going to figure out how to make latex clothes for myself. Then I could have anything I wanted and it would all fit me perfectly! This may have been a little ambitious (but I generally am) So armed with a book and all the tools I figured I needed I endeavoured to get started. I was missing a few bits and bobs and upon seeking advice from Inner Sanctum I found myself offered the apprenticeship of the decade!
Anyone familiar with latex clothing will know that Inner Sanctum have been at the top of the game in quality and fit for almost 20 years. Ana and myself developed a repertoire and within 6 weeks she had started me on the corsetry that simply is the definition of skill and quality. After spending 8 months with Inner Sanctum also working a few days at Breathless each week I began to get itchy feet. Although I had learned a vast arsenal of skills I had also landed into a full time job and wasn’t actually doing the things I wanted to do.
I decided to start Slaughter House Couture as a means to provide myself with the endless entertainment of creating individual beautiful pieces. I only make bespoke pieces so each one is different and interesting and at the end of the day my customers go away wth a garment that is exactly what they always wanted. Of course when customers bring ideas to me I develop them into working garments and add my own design details to make each piece the best that it can be.
I started out on this path wanting to make beautiful, individual clothes for myself that fit my – not standard sized – body shape. Slaughter House Couture now allows me to offer that to each and every one of my customers.
